Curriculum

At Rowanfield Junior School we believe that lessons should be stimulating, exciting and engaging.

Meaningful links and purposeful writing experiences are promoted through a thematic approach. This results in high levels of motivation, with children challenged by exciting and fun learning experiences through a broad curriculum offer. Children are encouraged to use their natural curiosity to discover and learn new knowledge whilst gaining and developing skills that equip them for life.

We enjoy a stimulating outdoor environment, including extensive sports fields, a forest school, wildlife areas, sensory garden and vegetable gardens. The school also boasts well-equipped playgrounds with a huge range of outdoor play equipment.

With a large hall and dance, drama and music studio and well-equipped classrooms, Rowanfield has all the ingredients to help to develop fully rounded, happy, healthy and successful children.

Our most valuable resource is the dedicated, highly-skilled teaching team. Planning lessons in collaboration within our school and across the Gloucestershire Learning Environment, teachers and teaching assistants are able to ensure and rich, varied and exciting learning experience for all pupils.

We continue to develop our curriculum to ensure that we provide a world class education, taking into account guidance and expectations of the National Curriculum for English schools.
