Community
A great deal of effort is invested into securing lasting links with all sectors of our community. Our vision helps to ensure that our children develop positive attitudes and an understanding that behaviour contributes to school life, adult life and work. All of this is supported by a fosused and rich curriculum, although we recognise that that this cannot be done in isolation.
We also recognise that nationally learners from disadvantaged backgrounds do less well that their peers, a trend we work hard to change so that we are able to target all groups of children to support them to achieve their very best. We use data to rigorously plan and implement systematic. whole-school approaches to plan provision for all chiildren, with support from agencies, organisations, groups and individuals. Protocols and processes include multi-agency panels for vulnerable families, co-ordinated by our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) and our Behaviour and Emotional Support Training team.
We also recognise that engaging with our parents is vital and can make a significant impact on the achievement of children. Again, our priority is to work stragically through a variety of initiatives, modelling that learning is fun! A packed calendar of events, regular updates, infomation sessions and meetings help to sustain this momentum, underpinned by a charter signed by parents.
Links with local secondary schools ensures that transition is as smooth as it can be, particularly for some more vulnerable children. It was fantastic to welcome one of our feeder schools to our annual Raising Aspirations day, as well as local universities and colleges. We have also forged links with our local grammar school, with a growing number of families aspiring or securing places for their children.
The promotion of pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and their physical wellbeing is a very high priority for us, enabling children to thrive in a supportive, highly cohesive learning community. Visitors and groups from all sectors of the community help us to broaden the childrens' experiences as well as tackle some of the challenges identified through local needs analysis.
